Our entire fifth grade is on Moodle!!! I have been using Moodle for awhile with my ACE kiddos, but today I rolled it out for all three of my reading and writing classes. The kids were really excited to try it for the first time. My hope is that this will help to ease some of the management of keeping up with all of my reading groups, while allowing the students to use technology in fun and new ways. Students will using moodle to complete reading assignments and to discuss their reading with their peers. It should be an interesting experience and I look forward to seeing how it turns out.

Teaching in Virtual Land

The Reading TAKS test is coming, The Reading TAKS test is coming!!!
Don't let this be your child!As the reading TAKS steadily approaches I have found that some students (ie your children) will suffer from test anxiety. Please do your best to assure your child that they have nothing to fear. They know what is like to take a reading TAKS and all the strategies they need to be successful. Stressing out over it will do them no good at all. Please encourage your child to get a good nights rest the night before and in the morning to put a big smile on their face as they eat a yummy nutrious breakfast. If you or your child have any concerns are questions about the up coming test feel free to let me know and we can sit down and discuss it. Happy testing!!!

As a teacher I'm always looking for new ways to keep both my parents and students up to date with the plethora of information that goes through our classroom. As we continue to push the envelope of technology in our society we are given new tools to help communicate, interact, develop, create, etc. I hope that this will be a new tool to do just that.
